Supporting our community through annual grants

If you or a loved one has neurofibromatosis and live in Minnesota or the Dakotas, you may be eligible for a variety of grants offered by NF Upper Midwest.

Individual & Family Support Grant

NF Upper Midwest’s Individual and Family Support Grant is intended to provide financial assistance to individuals or to family member with NF to assist with issues or emergencies related to NF. Examples of grants include, but are not limited to, transportation or lodging costs associated with treatment or diagnosis, special equipment, or therapies.

Individual and Family Support Grant Criteria

  • Individuals and families must indicate the purpose for the financial assistance on the application form.
  • Financial assistance will be granted after exhausting all other reasonable options including third party insurance coverage.
  • Individuals and families are only eligible to receive one support grant within a 12 month period.
  • The amount of the support grant may not exceed $1000.  The specific amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Campership Grant

NF Upper Midwest’s campership grant is intended to provide financial assistance to those affected with NF who would like to attend summer camp.

Campership Grant Criteria

  • Camps must be either a camp designed specifically for persons with NF or a special camp for individuals with disabilities or health issues.
  • Family or individuals need to state the reason for needing financial assistance on the application.
  • Families or individuals are eligible for only one campership per year.
  • The amount of the campership will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Conference Grant

NF Upper Midwest’s conference grant is intended to grant financial assistance to an individual in need to allow that person to attend a conference on topics or issues related to NF. Examples of such grants include, but are not limited to, expenses such as registration, travel, and lodging.

Conference Grant Criteria

  • The conference must be relevant to issues and topics regarding NF.
  • An individual may only receive one conference grant per year.
  • The amount of the conference grant may not exceed $750. The specific amount of the grant will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Individuals must demonstrate financial need for the conference grant and have made reasonable attempts to secure scholarships from other sources if available.
